Title: Supervisor Regional Medical Nutrition and Dietary services
Location: Honolulu, HI
Provides leadership and supervision for outpatient clinical dietitians and assigned staff. Assists in ensuring the delivery of high quality, accessible, cost-effective and member-focused care to members across the care continuum. Manages the financial performance, staffing, and resource allocation within the organization's defined parameters to create a high performance team providing integrated and coordinated care. Oversees and coordinates the planning, development and implementation of medical nutrition therapy services, nutrition education and self-care programs. Develops a culture that supports KP mission, vision and core values. Supervises assigned staff.

Essential Functions:
- Manages all aspects of outpatient, Regional Medical Nutrition and Dietary Services department & operations
- Participates in formulating, implementing & evaluating program plans, strategies & new models/methods of service delivery. Develops, implements, and monitors departmental policies and procedures which support the organization's goals & business objectives
- Prepares budgets and resource allocations. Monitors financial performance. Identifies and implements strategies to contain costs while maintaining/improving quality of care/service
- Fosters and promotes a safe work environment
- Provides staff development opportunities. Collaborates with human resources, clinical educators and others in identifying or creating opportunities to meet the educational requirements and needs of the assigned staff
- Plans, organizes, coordinates and evaluates nutrition education component of health care services and nutrition related initiatives provided by the organization. Designs plans for implementing change and innovation in medical nutrition therapy and nutrition education
- Writes and submits proposals for new program development and associated staffing requirements to maintain quality, cost effective outpatient services and educational programs
- Ensures continuous improvement of all clinical practices, services, and operations by designing and implementing systems, processes and methods to evaluate and improve patient care
- Collaborates w/ direct reports, peers, clinic leaders, physicians, nursing and other health care providers in establishing, implementing, and maintaining patient care and quality service standards
- Acts as a patient advocate in resolving patient care issues pertaining to regional medical nutrition and dietary services
- Provides direct medical nutrition therapy and dietary services as needed
- Keeps informed of regional and other health care initiatives to improve or optimize medical nutrition and dietary services
- Provides in-service training to physicians, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, nurses and other allied health professionals. Participates in Health Care Team meetings, case presentation and medical conferences
- Participates in community health education projects that promote goodwill and public relations such as health fairs and work site health programs
- Serves as a consultant on nutritional care for other programs and departments. Serves as a nutrition expert for media events, publications and other public relations and community projects
- Promotes and participates in research activities that lead to the development of evidence-based practices
- Hires, trains, supervises, counsels, disciplines, and terminates assigned staff as appropriate
- Communicates goals, objectives, accountabilities, priorities, and authority parameters to assigned staff
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Five years of experience as a practicing dietitian in an ambulatory health care setting
- Two years experience in nutrition education or program development
- Two years of experience in utilizing electronic medical record to document medical nutrition therapy
- Accredited Dietetic Internship (DI) by the American Dietetic Association (ADA)
- Bachelor's degree in science in nutrition or clinical dietetics or equivalent related experience
- Certified Registered Dietitian (RD) by the American Dietetic Association (ADA)
- Basic life support for the health care professional or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification
- National Provider Identifier (NPI) and Taxonomy code required at time of hire
- Proficient in use of job-related equipment including computers and pertinent software including word processing, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint
- Proficient in conducting nutritional analyses utilizing nutrition analysis software
- Demonstrates proficiency in championing innovation and change, collaboration, effective communication, developing self and others, driving for results, focusing on the customer, taking accountability, interpersonal relations and cultural sensitivity

Preferred Qualifications:
- Supervisory/lead or project management experience
- Master's degree in nutrition, public health or health administration
- Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) within 2 years of employment
